Real Christians Don't Make Fun Of Fat People

The other day at a drive-thru I saw something that really horrified me.

I was waiting in line, and I saw another woman waiting in line that I vaguely knew. This woman isn't an overweight woman, married, has money, and will sit in church on Sundays. Beyond that I don't know her.

Apparently she got sick of waiting in line in her car and started screaming and cursing outside of her car window at the woman in front of her. Some of the phrases I caught were "fat ass", "fat ass bitch", etc. How was it the woman in front her's fault that this lady was waiting in line?

It really amazes me that someone could act and talk like this, but still think that they are something special. This woman had not only a filthy mouth, but a filthy attitude. Obviously she was looking to be hurtful and bully someone, or why else would she have mentioned the woman's weight? What does weight have to do with waiting in the drive thru at the drugstore?

The Bible talks about loving each other. We are supposed to be patient and kind. I have to say though that making fun of someone's weight is not Christian. If you are doing this, but still call yourself a Christian, shame on you.

I wonder what other people like her coworkers, friends, etc would have to say about a woman that acts like this. Would she show her true colors if her boss was there? As I drove away, all I could think of was how relieved I'm not her. Or her husband.

To Fat To Be President

Does everyone remember a few months ago when NJ Governor Chris Christie was all over the news?

I really think it's so sad that the whole debate was whether he would make a good President because he's fat. How ridiculous is that?

Even ABC had the ignorance to further spread this garbage by running a segment on it.

I think it's a pretty sad reflection upon society when they allow someone's weight to be the deciding factor on whether a person would make a good President or not. I can say one thing. I sure wouldn't vote for somebody that would decide important stuff based on someone's size.

Smorty....... Where are the Jobs?

Smorty is a paid blogging service. The theory is that bloggers register and then get to select writing jobs to post on their blog. You are then paid for the jobs after you submit them and they are approved.

The problem with Smorty is that there are NEVER any jobs available. Never. I've logged in repeatedly, but I never see anything available. I'm curious if anyone else ever has any luck receiving a job. In the last three years, I've found one.

When you login, you see that there are people listed that are supposedly making a few hundred each week. I'd love to know what their secret is! They have a forum on there, but they have made it clear they don't want posts from people asking where the jobs are.

If you have a blog, click on the banner above to register. Who knows, maybe you'll have better luck. I do know that the blogs that have a higher pr ranking are supposed to have more jobs available. I haven't seen this confirmed yet though.

A Thank You To The Men That Like Large Ladies

In a society dominated by shallow men that snub plus-sized ladies, I wanted to dedicate a post to the men that are broad-minded enough to not base their relationships on how much their partner weighs.

It's ridiculous that so many people would rather stay single then ever give a plus-sized person a chance. It's even more ridiculous when someone thinks that they are better than an overweight person, simply because they might weigh less. It's amazing how shallow society is. How many times have you heard someone say, "I can't believe he's dating that fat girl!"

A man in church that has been married for years and years once testified that he was one of the guys that would never date an overweight woman. As time has went on though, his wife is now plus-sized. He testified that he's never been happier. This is a man that could have lost a good woman and a happy marriage if he didn't release his shallow ways and realize what's important in life.

All I can say is that for you guys that look at the attraction, character, and personality of a women and not just her weight, good for you!!! I think I speak for all plus-size ladies when I say thank you for being such a great example!

New evidence shows obesity rates in the United States have hit a plateau and America’s once rapidly growing waistline has finally slowed – but not before nearly 70 percent of Americans were found to be overweight and more than 72 million obese. Now scientists are uncovering a changing perception among the population: people think fat is beautiful.

Results from the 2003-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), using measured heights and weights, indicate that an estimated 66 percent of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese. Obesity rates in U.S. women seem to be staying level, and the rate in men may also be hitting a plateau. With numbers so high, people’s perception of what is beautiful is also changing.

Although there is still a stigma reverberating through society, the echo is getting dimmer and dimmer as fat people now make up the bulk of the population. With this, statistics say a new attitude is being born. More and more fat actors are being put on TV and in films. Magazine covers, commercials and billboards are not all composed of the same, sickly thin model-type images. There is a growing shift in society that’s bumping thin out and bringing “fat” in.

This is most evident on the Internet as rapidly growing lists of fat dating sites are hitting the market. Last year, Google reported a sharp increase in fat-related searches. People are looking for things like: BBW photos, BBW personals, big beautiful women, fat ladies and big beautiful men. Modeling agency have launched searches for full-figured models and there has been a strong movement to oust the “skin and bones” look from the industry. Certainly within the United States there has been a shift in attraction as thin people are slowly making there way out of the picture.

Although the trend to put on weight seems to be leveling off in the US, other countries are still seeing dramatic increases. Some experts argue, however, that the plateau is only temporary and, with time, people who don’t carry a little extra girth will be considered odd or out of place. Soon, the study stated, people will be eating more in attempt to pack on a few extra pounds and join the national trend.

Adult obesity rates seem to be holding steady at about 34 percent, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. The adult obesity rate has generally been climbing since 1980, when it was 15 percent. The entire adult population has grown heavier and the heaviest have become much heavier in the last 25 years. It’s no wonder that fat has evolved into the “new look” of contemporary times.

Overweight Men Better In Bed?

According to a study done in Turkey they are!

At Erciyes University in Kayseri, Turkey, scientists did a study and found out that fat men last longer in bed. According to the results, overweight men do not experience the problems of premature ejaculation and impotence like thinner men do.

The article goes on to say that one 400 pound man lasted six hours before climaxing.

Although the person that wrote the article appears to be sarcastic, I think it's great to see another plus to being big. You can read the full article here. The study goes on to say that fat men have a hard time finding a woman, but I don't believe that to be the case. I see plenty of women with the teddy bear type, and they love it!

PCOS and how it affects breastfeeding

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a condition that is starting to get some recognition. It primarily causes acne, oily skin, facial hair growth, menstrual problems, and weight gain. On an even deeper level, it affects fertility and can cause miscarriages.

PCOS can cause many uncomfortable symptoms. It increases male hormones that can result in breasts not fully developing and can affect breastmilk supply.

Several top leading doctors and lactation consultants in the country have discovered links between PCOS and low milk supply. Unfortunately though for most of us, we don't have connections to these specialists. Many doctors don't understand PCOS and as a result can give inaccurate information to PCOS moms that are having nursing problems.

PCOS affects breastfeeding and milk supply many times because the body never fully formed the necessary tissue for breastfeeding. Not to mention that with extra male hormones, it makes it harder for a woman's body to produce breastmilk. Many times a breastfeeding mom finds that she isn't give any useful advice when experiencing low milk supply, especially if it's due to PCOS. There have been many breastfeeding moms to switch to formula because they were told that they couldn't make enough milk and just to quit breastfeeding.

Just because mom has PCOS though isn't a reason to quit breastfeeding. Even if mom has PCOS, is exclusively pumping, and working, there are still ways to keep your milk supply up.

The first thing you would want to do is set up an appointment with your gynecologist. It wouldn't hurt to ask when you called if they are familiar with PCOS. Your doctor can prescribe medication to help control the PCOS.

To increase your milk supply, make sure that you are breastfeeding often. Some babies like to sleep all the time, but you want to make sure you are breastfeeding every 2 to 3 hours. If baby is still asleep, you can gently wake baby up and offer the breast. To make milk, you have to be using it. Otherwise you will notice a decrease in breastmilk supply.

For the best breastmilk supply possible, you simply want to breastfeed all the time. Don't worry about pumping or anything else. Take a breastfeeding vacation and simply nurse often and for as long as baby wants. Create a comfortable breastfeeding space for yourself. My recommendation is right in front of the tv with a side table to hold supplies.

If you have noticed a decrease in milk supply already, start using something herbal like Breastea. Breastea contains several herbs that are recommended for use in increasing milk supply. Many moms have found that Breastea increases their breast milk supply to the level that they need to feed baby and then some. Just steep one tea bag in a one gallon container and drink a glass every 3 to 4 hours. You should start to see a change in milk supply within 12 to 24 hours.

If you are exclusively pumping, make sure to use a hospital grade breast pump every 2 to 3 hours for fifteen minutes at a time. This is every important, and you don't want to skip even one pumping. When exclusively pumping, the truth is it's simply harder to keep up your milk supply. Many moms notice a major decrease in milk supply as time goes by. You can counteract those effects by simply using a good herbal product like Breastea. Again for best milk supply, make sure to pump often and drink Breastea.

Some research has found that Goat's Rue can increase breast tissue, thus allowing the breastfeeding mom to make more milk. I would recommend using this in conjunction with Breastea. Each herb has some benefit and by using it all together, they are giving you the best possible chance for a healthy and full breastmilk supply.

PCOS can make things a little more difficult when breastfeeding, but it's not something that can't be worked with.

Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden

Several years ago when the movie, "Memoirs of A Geisha" released I watched it one night on Pay Per View.

It was really a great movie. I loved the characters, and I thought it was extremely thought out and captivating from beginning to end. Many people are fascinated by Asian life and culture.

Before this movie, I don't think I ever heard the word Geisha. I sure wouldn't have known what it was.

Recently I saw the book, "Memoirs of A Geisha" on the library shelf and I decided to read it. Many times if I watch a movie I truly like, I enjoy following up with the book. I like to get the extra details that a movie might not have included. It's nice to read the book after you see the movie because you can put a face with the name.

I was surprised at how true to form the movie was to the book. Arthur Golden is a very, very clever man. With the way that he starts the book out, you believe that a real Geisha gave him her full life's story. He writes that she asked that the book not be published until after her death. Then following this, he uses a fictional name as the interviewer and eventual author of her memoirs.

Really it leaves you wondering if it's truly fictional or the work of an author that made a promise to someone that shared their story? If indeed it truly was the life of a genuine geisha, than how clever would it be for an author to make like it is a work of fiction? This way the author could deliver a very powerful story but still keep his word.

I was very shocked at how well he was able to put this book together considering it is coming from a female's point of view. It was truly so well written that I hated to put it down. It gave me an insight into Asia that I would never have experienced before.

I'm a dreamer, and I love to debate. I'm also a person that loves history and enjoys the "what if's" in life. This book was a rich treat for my imagination. I could almost see the events as they unfolded.

Being a Geisha was a true art that most of us would never understand. It was almost like living a role and being an actress 24 hours a day. Your life was never your own.

Eventually most Geisha's do take on a patron, but that is not their true purpose. Their true purpose was to be the most alluring, talented, and entertaining female that a man would ever experience. They were renowned for their Kimono's and beauty.

The book glossed over a lot of the actual job duties that the Geisha would do at the teahouses. From what I am able to determine though is that a Geisha would sing and dance. They would pour Sake. They would escort the man to the restroom. I have to wonder what the parts left unwritten were though.

For all intents and purposes, Arthur Golden has stressed that the book is a work of fiction. The interesting twist on it though is that he was actually sued by a former Geisha that stated that Allen did not keep her story anonymous as they had agreed upon when she shared her story. It was later settled out of court.

Regardless of whether the story is fact or fiction, to me it's just another amazing piece to Asia's history. They are a country rich in tradition and ceremonies. If you haven't read the book or seen the movie, Memoirs of a Geisha, I encourage you to try out one or both. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Why Women Fall In Love With Their Best Guy Friend

I bet every woman out there has got feelings for her best guy friend at some point in her life. It may have been years ago, or just recently. It might have been a past guy friend or a current one. It happened to Julia Roberts on My Best Friend's Wedding, and it could happen to any single female out there.

Maybe that same guy was totally mystified as to how his best female friend could fall in love with him. After all, you were only friends. Isn't it interesting though how the same guy can be mystified as to why it didn't work out with his one night stand with the hottie at the local bar?

When a single woman and a single guy become friends, there isn't sex involved. At least there shouldn't be, but a lot of people are wanting to change that rule. They develop a relationship, getting to know each other without the pressure of sex. Your best guy friend calls you to talk to you, and he wants to spend time with you. He laughs at your jokes. He's there for you when you need someone to talk to.

Those things are what women need in a romantic relationship as well. Instead of receiving that, women today are bombarded with all types of sexual pressure. How can you get to know someone when that person isn't interested in you as a person? So with the constant sexual pressure, it's impossible to form a meaningful relationship.

A relationship has to be based on the person themselves. What's between their eyes guys, not between the legs. We all know that men want sex. We all know that you let the penis do the picking. We all know that you're just going to fall over and die if you can't relieve your bad case of blue balls. We get it! Just know that the more you pressure for sex, the less likely you are going to get it.

So when a woman develops a close friendship with a man, she is doing that without all the sexual pressure. He enjoys her for the person that she is, not because of what he's going to get at the end of the evening. So it's not a big surprise that many women find themselves falling in love with their best guy friend.

It seems to me that a lot of single guys have it all wrong. Women, being the emotionally wonderful creatures that we are, want to be loved, cherished, and romanced. A woman that feels that she's special to someone is going to be much more likely to want a sexual side to her relationship with him.

I've been a fan of Joaquin Phoenix since he made the Johnny Cash movie, Walk the Line. With his dark hair, dark eyes, and deep voice, I always thought he was a handsome little s**t. So that's why I was so surprised to see recent pictures of him.

Considered an overweight person myself, I wasn't shocked or surprised that he's put on a few pounds (good for you Joaquin!), but I was surprised that he has let his appearance go so much. What on earth? He's started wearing black sunglasses all the time, with an ungroomed beard and unwashed hair to become a full-time rapper. Aren't people in the music business concerned about grooming? To be honest, when I see his new look I don't think rapper. I think the "Blues".

Joaquin Phoenix on the Late Show. His behaviour on this clip is just so off. It's like he's not really even there.

With so many actors going through so much these days, I hope Joaquin is able to pull himself back together. He really was an interesting actor, and he made excellent eye candy.

Breast Implants

Breast implants..... Are women that don't have them in the minority now?

I personally have never had breast implants done, although some would say that I am the perfect candidate. I have always been "small-chested", and the saying that all overweight women have large breasts is just false. Obviously weight doesn't mean you are going to have this naturally huge breast size.

Isn't it amazing how times and trends change? A woman with implants used to be a rare thing. Look at it now though. As a big fan of reality shows like Rock of Love, it seems that the majority of the women have breast implants.

A few years ago, a friend "confessed" to me that she had breast implants done about fifteen years prior. I was really surprised. She didn't have enormously huge breasts, and they just looked like an average size. In comparison to her body shape, they looked completely natural. She told me that was what she had been aiming for. After having breast implants, she was and is a size C.

Implants are not the same as they used to be. The recuperation time doesn't seem to be as long, and you don't hear the large amount of horror stories that you used to. After surgery results are reported to be more natural looking. Plus it would seem that overall the implants just hold up better.

The great thing about breast implants is that you don't have to be slender only to get them. Breast implants are available for people of all sizes that feel like they need them.

We live in an extremely fat-phobic society. So what does this mean for a plus-sized person's love life? Let's not say it makes it harder for us to get dates...... Let's say that it makes it harder to find someone worth dating. A person worth having doesn't let a pant size decide who they will or won't date. In Phoenix, the club is only open on Thursday nights. In Long Beach, the club is available Friday and Saturday nights. These are size-friendly clubs, meaning that not only are overweight people accepted, but they are desired.

Really I think this country could use hundreds more of these. What I find sad though is that they are needed. What does that say about our society that overweight people can't go out to an everyday club and be accepted?

Funny Comments

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and did a little shopping. While there I saw that they had the Cherry Coke Zero on sale there for $1 per 2 liter. I decided to go ahead and try it out. I love coca-cola, but I hate the empty calories. As much as I love CC, I hate diet coke though. Lately though I have been making a concentrated effort to at least tolerate it though.

Anyhow after checking out I thought that the price of everything I bought was a little high. I didn't get a chance to actually check out my receipt though until later that night. It's a good thing I did.

Each 2 liter I purchased rang up as $10 apiece!

Generally speaking I just toss the receipts and don't check them. I cringe to think that I would have overpaid for my pop by $18. I immediately called up there and was told to bring my receipt back in for a refund. Apparently they had an error and somehow added an extra 0 in the price.

From now on I am going to make sure I always check my receipts. You just never know huh?

Bias Against Fat People on the Rise

I just read a news article that makes me sick. Not the article itself, but just that people can have attitudes like this towards others based on their weight. Not to mention the total unprofessionalism by several members of the medical community. And people consider themselves civilized? The article kind of lays it out in black and white how extreme fat prejudice is becoming.

According to this article here, more than half of 620 doctors surveyed view obese patients as “awkward,” “unattractive,” “ugly” and “non-compliant.” A third went further, painting the obese as weak-willed, sloppy and lazy.

The study even went one step further. As stated on the news article, "College students asked to rank pictures of hypothetical sexual partners that included an obese partner or partners with various disabilities -- including missing an arm or described as having history of sexually transmitted diseases -- ranked the obese person as the least desirable sexual partner compared to the others."

So although we would like to think that size acceptance is becoming more common, obviously it isn't. It's pretty sad that when you go to the doctor, you have to wonder if you aren't going to be considered disgusting or the object of a joke when you walk out the door.

I think in the coming weeks, I am going to start compiling a list of doctors that are known for being fat-friendly.

Drop Dead Diva

Death or life as a fat person? Which would you choose?

This is a question brought to mind by the upcoming new show, Drop Dead Diva. Deb is a shallow and selfish beautiful lady trying to be a model. Jane is an attorney with a heart of Gold. The only "downfall" is that she's plus-sized. They both die at the same time. Deb ends up being put into Jane's body. The show will follow Deb learning to live in a plus-sized body.

This show will premier on Lifetime on July 12, 2009.

Lifetime is always coming up with good movies and shows. I really like how they promote self-esteem and size acceptance. What really stumps me though is why would someone consider being plus-sized a nightmare but think a crappy personality is fine?

Yet that is the way many, many people are.

At the end of the day, someone's weight is not the issue. It's the personality and person inside. I really don't get why many people think the most important feature on their body is how much they weigh. A person's weight isn't going to carry on a conversation. A person's weight isn't going to be honest or thoughtful. A person's weight isn't something you can rely on. A person's weight isn't going to comfort you.

In a situation like that, I have to wonder how many people would truly choose to die over life as a fat person. Obviously in my mind, I don't see anything wrong with the extra pounds. Yet, I think that many would actually choose not to live if they had to be plus-sized or FAT. There are those out there that would think that if they were fat they would be treated like the most disgusting thing out there. They think this way because that's how THEY treat overweight people themselves. It's ridiculous that a person is made to feel less because they aren't the weight that someone else would choose for them.

So that's why I'm glad to see a show like this airing. We need more shows like this, and there truly needs to be more of the average American on tv. After all this is America.

True Blood - A Fat Friendly Show

If you read my other blog, Walking on the Dark Side, you know that I love True Blood. I just wish there was more of it.

With Season 1, I was tempted to say that it was a Fat Friendly show, but now I really believe it's true. It was so great to watch the 2 bbw extras and their moment of fame.

For those of you that may have missed the season 2 premier of True Blood, there is a scene in Merlotte's where two bbw are talking about Rene's death. One of them said that they heard that the vamp's dug him up and turned him into a vampire. Hopefully, that's not a hint of things to come.

I noticed in season 1, you will see that some of the extras are considered overweight. I say some. But in Hollywood that's pretty significant. I hate to say it, but most everyone in Hollywood is so fat phobic that it's not even funny. I think it's added a touch of real to True Blood. I'd love to see more real life people in the show.

I do know that I no longer receive emails when I have requests to advertise. I really think I liked it best before the changes.

Dead and Gone Charlaine Harris

I just got finished reading Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris. I really enjoyed the book and managed to read it in just a few short hours. I couldn't wait to get on here and blog about it before I start it all over again.

The Sookie Stackhouse series is one of my favorites. The books are just so "down home" (Yeah, I'm from the South), and I can really relate to the language and odds and ends in the book. I love the real touch that Charlaine Harris gives the books. I think these inserts about southern manners and ice tea bring the series to life in her readers.

As a bbw and a single woman I can relate to different parts of this specific book. In one part, Sookie and Eric are in Fangtasia. A heavier woman comes over and asks for Eric to autograph something. When telling the woman's thoughts, Sookie basically says that the lady didn't really think of Eric as attractive because she realizes that a man like him wouldn't ever look at a woman like her because of her weight. Sookie then proceeds to have a short thought of Eric going over and making the heavier woman feel like she is attractive, etc.

I have to wonder in real life, how many women wish that a handsome guy would do something like that.

There was just something different about this book. It seemed like Sookie had more of the real life struggles of a single woman. There seemed to be more emphasis on the whole love triangle of Sookie, Bill, and Eric. It was touching. It's like Bill and Eric offer both sides of the Perfect Male.

I really see Sookie as being the type of woman that just wants to be loved and accepted for who she is. She's very practical. She just wants someone that's she can rely on and spend the rest of her life with. Each man she has been involved with could almost be that man, but then he does that one thing that messes it up. And that one thing is a big thing that can't just be overlooked.

The Bill and Eric saga just continues on, and I'm not sure who will be right for Sookie. I don't think Quinn was the right person. Eric and Bill both have a lot of good qualities, but Eric seems to always be there for her. Until this book. In Dead and Gone, it seems like Bills comes through in her darkest hour.

So if you haven't read the book, here are some spoilers. Don't read this paragraph if you don't want to know..... Eric and Sookie hook back up. Tara is pregnant. Claudine is pregnant. Crystal dies. Halleigh thinks she might be pregnant. Sookie is basically tortured, and we aren't sure if Bill is going to live due to silver poisioning. Niall says a final goodbye to Sookie. Claudine goes to Summerland, which I think means she died. The FBI comes knocking on the door, and I'm sure in the next book there will be pressure to force Sookie into working for them. Overall, some questions are answered in this book, but a lot is left open.

I don't know when Charlaine is going to have another Sookie Stackhouse book. I hope that it's not going to be a year. It makes it hard to follow a series when the books aren't released that often. I really think she has a winning series here.

I think it's really great when you hear of a celebrity or someone famous talking about BBW in a positive light. Not to mention being attracted to someone heavier.

I saw this interview with wrestler John Cena on the Howard Stern show. In it, he talks about an "intimate encounter" with a bbw. He says it was a great experience! John also says he was absolutely attracted to her. Stern tells him he's quite a man and I agree! Real men are able to look at the total package and date who they like, not base their attraction on how much a person weighs.

Relationships in Movies..... Real or Fiction?

Tonight I was watching a movie that could be considered romantic, and I found myself thinking how great it would be to meet (find, date, FALL IN LOVE WITH) a guy that would actually like, respect, and love the person that I truly am. Someone that actually bases his attraction on my personality and the person that makes up this frame. With that thought, I had to wonder if movies set us single ladies up for this type of romance, or just set us up for a big fall.

Dating and expectations have really changed. It used to be dinner and a movie. Now it's not even knowing someone's last name. What used to be dating has fallen into the blink and you miss it category.

I definitely think that the older you get, the wiser you get (or at least you should). You kind of know what you need out of a relationship and you get better at figuring out if it is right or not pretty quick. At least that is what has happened to me. I know what I am looking for in a relationship, and I am content to remain single until I find what and who I am looking for.

I remember reading sometime back that a survey found that women in the USA are unhappy because so many men are looking for short term or casual encounters. Women need, crave, and want romance.

In most movies, at least the romantic ones, the relationship is long term and heading toward marriage. This used to be the way things were in real life too. The question is, will things ever be like that again?

There are some that say that movies are just that, movies. So that would mean that relationships in the movies are just fiction as well. Love, romance, and chivalry would be fiction, not the way that real life is. So does that mean a single woman should not expect to find a guy that is going to fall in love with her and stay that way?

I think it's safe to say that their are a million women out there that would love to meet a guy like Edward (Robert Pattinson) in the movie Twilight. Or Leonardo Di Caprio in his role on Titanic. The list could go on and on. Why are they dream guys? Because they are caring, adoring, committed, protective, and just accepts and loves the woman for who she is.

Bea Arthur Dies at 86

When I was a kid, I loved to watch the Golden Girls. I know some may say that was an odd choice for a kid, but they were so funny. I would imagine I watched probably all the episodes.

I was really saddened today when I got online and I saw that Bea Arthur had passed away. She was the one that played Dorothy on the show. Her dry sense of humor was always so funny.

It hasn't been that long ago that Estelle Getty passed away. She died at the age of 84 on July 22, 2008. She played Dorothy's mom Sophia on the show.

Bea Arthur died from cancer. She was 86 years old.

Dish Network is the Everyday BBW's Best Friend

I just love Dish Network. I haven't had it for long, but I'm really impressed with it. There are a lot of channels, and I have never had it go go out. Well, it did when we had the huge Ice Storm here in KY, but I guess that doesn't count. Without power, it's not going to work.

So anyhow I wanted to program the Dish Network remote to operate my dvd player as well. It's really easy to do. I didn't have the codes, but I did the power scan and was able to get it programmed within seconds.

So just in case anybody on the net ends up needing to program their Dish Network remote to work with a dvd player or vcr, here are the instructions. This will work with the model 5.0 IR.

If you know your code;

Press and hold the correct Mode (TV, VCR, or AUX) button for about six seconds until all mode button backlights come on, then release.

Use the number buttons to enter the three digit number (four digit for AUX mode) corresponding to the equipment. The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
For AUX mode ONLY: press 0 for a TV, press 1 for a VCR/DVD, press 2 for any other device.

Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.

To verify the code works, press the mode button. Try several different functions for that equipment. Some codes may provide partial function, or respond differently than the button's titled function. Try the other codes listed for that device until you find one that offers more complete functionality.

If you don't know your code;
With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 6 seconds), then release.

Press and release the Power button.

Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.

Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.

To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment. For example try using the volume control buttons if a TV code was desired.

Pretty nifty huh?

2009 Dimensions Bash Orlando, FL June 18-21

Dimensions has announced the details for their 2009 BBW Bash. It will be in Orlando, FL at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel. It looks like their will be a special Dimensions rate of $85 per night.

The dates will be June 18, 2009 through June 21, 2009. Many plans are still being finalized, but it looks like there will be an early bird event on June 17th.

I haven't had the chance to attend any bbw events catering specifically to BBW, BHM, or their admirers. That's not to say that I wouldn't love to go! I encourage anybody that is size positive to attend.

If you haven't been to any size-friendly events, this would be a great way to get initiated. I know that for many of us, cost is a big factor. It seems like the cost of everything has went up, and many will not be taking vacations (myself included). If you plan on taking one though, maybe you could take it in the Orlando area during this week!

There is a really talented artist out there by the name of Les Toil. If you visit his website, you will see that his specialty is BBW Pin-Ups, and they are very impressive.

I've been wanting to mention him on my blog for quite some time. Not only because he's work is great (as you can see from watching the video), but because his work is so unique. It's not your everyday portrait that you pick up at Wal-Mart's photo studio.

As you can see from the video, many plus-sized females have taken advantage of his amazing talents and had their own portraits created. The price starts out at $395. I personally haven't had a portrait done, but I have to say that it's so tempting. As for the future, who knows?

As a footnote, I have to say that if you have a BBW in your life this would make a great gift for her. And if you appreciate art, make sure to check out the exhibits on the website.

A Word of Warning about Windstream Internet

A few months ago I signed up for Windstream's High Speed Internet. They told me that the plan was for 12 meg's (?), and that it was supposed to be faster then other Internet services.

I noticed after signing up that my surfing had become progressively slower. A lot, scratch that, most of the time my pages wouldn't load and/or I would get a page not found error. I was fixing to call in about it a month or so ago, then we ended up getting the big ice storm and was without power for almost two weeks so I had to wait.

I ended up calling in after the power came back on because nothing was loading for me with the Windstream Internet Service. I thought maybe it was due to damage from the ice storm, but when I called in I was told by a very rude person that it was my computer and to get more memory.

I decided to try this out, and I got the memory installed yesterday. After powering up the computer, I found that it was the EXACT same way it was before.

This morning I got back on the phone, determined to cancel this horrible service. At almost $50 per month, Windstream promises to have fast Internet, but that's wrong. Basically I have been paying for a headache and hassle that I can't use.

I got through to a rep and she told me that they have a higher level help desk that would send someone out today. She also credited me for one month of service. After being connected with the second level help desk, the guy had me to visit a website called Speedtest.net. On this website, you can check your Internet speed.

The numbers didn't mean anything to me, but the help desk guy at Windstream told me that it was extremely low and I was getting about 1/3 of the speed I'm supposed to be getting. Great. I'm disappointed that I've paid all these months for something that didn't deliver. At least though I'm getting somewhere.

Someone is supposed to be coming out this afternoon to check out the lines, etc. Hopefully, they can get it fixed. Otherwise, I'll be shopping for a new ISP.

I have to wonder why they didn't connect me directly to this guy when I called in last week. This would have saved time and money. The rep that I spoke with was not helpful in the least. When the problem wasn't resolved then, she should have transferred me to someone that could help.

So what about the rest of you? Anyone had any experiences with Windstream? I'll be updating as soon as I find out more.

Sell your used books for cash. No fees!

The other day I was flipping through a magazine, and I saw an article about ways to make money from home.

One of the ways you could make money from home was by selling your used books at this website, Cash4Books.net.

So I got home and checked it out. It's really great. Basically, you enter the ISBN numbers of the back of your books onto the website. Then the website shows what they will pay you for the books. You create an account and they email you a postage paid shipping label. So you can just print it out and package your books up. You don't have to pay shipping at all.

Then you ship it, they get it, and then pay you. You can be payed through Paypal or by check. If you decide to receive your payment through Paypal, they give you a 3% bonus. That's it. No fees to you at all. After they have received and inspected the books, they send your payment.

I'm really excited about this, as I can see this is a new way to make some extra cash. Ebay is so expensive that I really hate to list books on it anymore. There is no limit to the amount of books you can sell to them. They are really looking for textbooks and non-fiction books as well as others.

So if you have a ton of books that you don't know what to do with, you could get them out on a rainy day and enter the ISBN numbers on the website. You never know how much cash you could make.

My Review of the Book Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

You probably saw that I have been looking forward to reading Acheron for the entire year.

So when I went to the library yesterday and I saw a copy, I couldn't wait to get it home.

I'm about halfway through the book, and I have to say that Acheron was not what I was expecting.

Before I go into detail, I want to say that Sherrilyn Kenyon is an amazing writer. I've read just about all of her paranormal romances. I love the plots. She has a way with words that makes you feel like you are actually seeing the events unfold.

It's a Sad Day when a size 12 is to FAT

Some of you many not be familiar with Laura Coleman, but she won the title of Miss England for 2008.

As you can see from the picture, she is a very pretty blonde that is 22 years old. She's not someone that the word fat would come to mind when looking at her. But that's exactly what the modeling agencies are telling her she is.

It's been reported that Laura went from a dress size of 8, up to a dress size of 10/ 12. Really huge huh? (Rolling eyes) Due to this weight gain, the modeling agencies don't want to hire her.

I'm happy to say though that Laura seems to be holding her own and not caving down to the pressures of being a size 0. Marilyn Monroe had a dress size that ranged from a size 12 to 16. And she was gorgeous. I have to wonder what the beauty and fashion industry would say about her if she were alive and in her prime today. Would she have even got a foot in the door?

Although this article and study came out almost six months ago, I really feel that it needs to be talked about.

Everywhere society turns, we are hearing about single women feeling unhappy with sexual - based relationships or one night stands. Even Cosmo magazine has been talking about the fact that single women are dissatisfied with the short-term offerings they are being handed.

In other words, women want long-term. The key to a woman's heart (and possibly pants?) is by trying to have a relationship with them. We want to be loved, cherished, and valued.

The study involved 1,700 people that had all had a one-night stand at some point of their life. According to the article here, this was the findings;

"While men reported feeling more content, sexually satisfied and confident after meaningless sex, women were more likely to worry about feeling used and "letting themselves down". Some of the their reasons for the encounters were because they felt there was the possibility of a longer term relationship."

Once you take the sexual part of relationships out, everything seems to be so much simpler.

Maybe this is why so many parents raised their daughters to value their virtues in the now distant past. It was important that they had a ring on their finger before ever having sex with anyone. After they were married, the husband was responsible for the wife. And back then, men took this responsibility seriously.

We can look back in history and see that many men strayed. These same men though provided for their families, and weren't divorcing at the drop of a hat. Their wives were in a position of respect. In other words, men in the past took care of their own.

In this day and age, men aren't happy with long-term and women aren't happy with short-term. Is there any kind of solution?

Many people want to put down the old-fashioned way of doing things, but at least in the "old-fashioned" way, many families stayed together. You didn't sit down each day and see Maury (the talk show) with guests on there having paternity tests done with 7 or 8 different women. One night stands and "friends with benefits" results in a lot of negative feelings. I doubt that brief time (in some cases a matter of seconds and moments) is worth all that heartache.

Maybe people shouldn't be so fast to go to bed with each other. People should get to know each other without complicating it with sex. If they find that they aren't right for each other, they can each go their separate ways without anyone feeling used. If you really don't like someone enough to possibly spend the rest of your life with them, should you really be having sex?

Nintendo's Wii Fit - A fun game that's good for the body!

Yes, I can admit it.

I am one of the last few that haven't played the Nintendo Wii.

Having two sons though, I'm sure that will all change soon. My oldest son got a Playstation 2 about two months ago, but he's recently been looking at the Nintendo Wii when we are at Wal-Mart.

It really looks like a lot of fun. Plus, you see it a lot in television. I even saw Bill the vampire playing on a Wii in one off my favorite shows, True Blood.

Purchasing Wii games isn't limited to the store though. You can also get Wii games online for less than what you would pay at a store. Plus, you can purchase just about any Wii game you want. You aren't just limited to what's available at your local store.

A very popular game this year is Wii Fit. You can select one of four training moves. This game is all about fitness in a fun way. Children and adults can use it. I think it's a really neat thing to have.

Exercise is great for lowering blood pressure. For some people, after starting some type of exercise program, they find a month later their blood pressure has dropped dramatically. Keep fit with Wii Fit is a great article talking about incorporating Wii Fit into your healthy lifestyle.

Wii Fit is used with the balance board. The balance board is a weight scale and more. When you get on it, it reads your movements. Wii Fit helps you to check your balance, and improve it. It looks like so much fun.

John Travolta... Who knew he makes a gorgeous BBW?

The other day I was flipping through the tv guide, and I saw that the newest Hairspray was on. Looking at the information, I saw that John Travolta starred in it. I love John Travolta, so I decided to check it out.

Imagine my surprise when I first saw Edna. My first thought was she favored John, and then I realized that it WAS John Travolta LOL!

It was really one of the funniest things I have ever seen. When you think of John Travolta, you think of a really masculine, extremely handsome man. Yet, wow, he makes a great BBW. Could any natural born woman have smoother cheeks than his in the movie?

The last movie I saw with John was Wild Hogs. What a complete 360.

Apparently, the role of Edna for both of the Hairspray movies was played by a man. In the 1988 Hairspray, Edna was played by an actor that called himself Divine.

Newport News Plus-Sized Clothing

About a week ago, I decided to place my first order from Newport News.

Awhile back, I had actually picked up one of their shirts second hand. What I loved about the shirt was how long it was. I'm long waisted, so I really have a hard time finding shirts that hit me below the belly button.

Being the frugal bbw I am, I decided to surf over to their website and check out their clearance section. After searching through the listings, I found two shirts I liked enough to order. My order total came to $28.92.

Newport News does charge a handling fee. I was a little surprised about that. The handling fee shown on my invoice is $1.95. They also don't send you an email if they are out of stock on an item. I found out that one of my shirts was out of stock when I logged in to check my order status. This kind of bummed me out because it was the one I was REALLY wanting. I guess their website doesn't automatically update when they run out.

After ordering, I did sign up to be on their email list. I will say almost daily they have a special sale for people on their email list. Today, everything was $15.00. One day they sent an email with 25% off.

I can't wait to get the shirt and try it on and see if it's as long as the other one I had. If it is, I will definitely be ordering more shirts through them. Yesterday when I checked out their clearance section, they had low-rise jeans for $11.99. I love low rise jeans. I didn't order them though because I was worried that their jeans are longer than the average jeans. Has anyone purchased jeans from Newport News before? Although I'm tall, my height isn't in my legs. I generally wear an average size.

As of yet I haven't received a tracking number, but maybe the company just doesn't email these out. Hopefully I will get it in the next few days, and I can update the blog with the information. It would be so great to finally find a clothing company that offers clothing for long-waisted women.

With the season finale of True Blood being next Sunday night, I think a lot of us are wondering if there will be a season 2. After doing a little digging, I'm thrilled to post that there will be a season 2 for True Blood. And I can't wait!

Here is the press release; "LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17, 2008 – HBO has renewed the new drama series TRUE BLOOD for a second season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, Programming Group and West Coast Operations.

A few great Paranormal Romances to check out

Since our move, I've found out that Paducah, KY has a really wonderful library. They don't have a huge, huge selection of paranormal romances, but they've got a wonderful children's floor that my kids love. The library in Paducah even has tv's with Playstation 2 games set up for children to play on. Needless to say, my kids really enjoy having a visit to the library here.

Because of our recent trips to the library, I've had the chance to read some really great paranormal romances lately. I generally purchase the books I read, but sometimes it's nice to be able to check them out for free.

Lately, I've read the first two releases in the Sign of Seven Trilogy by Nora Roberts. I haven't read a whole lot of books by her, but I did read the Circle Trilogy and LOVED it. I enjoy paranormal and supernatural romances so much anymore that regular ones don't hold my interest like they used to. I love the action and romantic combination.

The Sign of Seven Trilogy really reminds me of Stephen King's It, with a romantic twist to it. Basically, three friends shared a blood oath when they were ten that unleashes evil on their town every seven years. It all goes back to an event that happened hundreds of years before.

I started out with the second book in the the trilogy called "The Hollow" and now I'm almost finished with the first one called "Blood Brothers". The third and final book will release in December 2008, and it's called "The Pagan Stone". I'm really looking forward to seeing how the trilogy will end.

Of course I can't forget about one of my favorite authors, Sherrilyn Kenyon. I just got finished reading "Dream Chaser" and "Devil May Cry". It goes without saying that these books were awesome reads. I adore her Dark-Hunters and just wish she could come up with more of them even faster then what she does! I still haven't got the chance to read Acheron yet, but I can hardly wait until it comes out in paperback.

True Blood - I Don't Wanna Know - Episode 10

Did anyone else watch the new episode of True Blood tonight? I just got finished watching Episode 10. All I can say is WOW!

Really, the shows aren't coming fast enough. I've been looking forward to tonight all weekend. This was really great, and I can't wait to catch a rerun of this episode on HBO. Believe me, I wasn't disappointed. This show keeps me watching from beginning to end.

I've seen online that True Blood is based on books written by Charlaine Harris. I haven't read these yet, but I wonder which are better? The show or the books?

So anyhow, I'd just dying to share my thoughts on Episode 10, "I Don't Wanna Know."

I really loved how the exorcism lady turned out to be someone that works in the drugstore. That was just wild. Tara really didn't seem to take it well. The whole Sam and Tara relationship is kind of confusing. It's like they both alternate between running hot and cold on each other.

Jason is so DUMB! That boy really should come with a warning label. What brains he has really do seem to be in the southern region. I really liked the way Lafayette put him in his place at the party tonight.

I really thought the vampire trial would be spookier than what it was. From the previews of tonight's episode, I thought Bill would have a five year punishment. I'm glad to see that's not the case. I really hope Sookie doesn't blow it though with Sam. I like Sam, but he's not the right one for Sookie!

And isn't it just wild that Sam can shapeshift?

I can't wait until next Sunday night! I thought I saw somewhere that there is going to be a season finale very soon. That really sucks because the show just came out in September. Why do they have to have a season finale so fast?

Can't get enough True Blood!

Have you ever sort of watched a show and didn't like it, just to turn around and end up loving it?

That's exactly what's happened to me with HBO's show, True Blood.

Several days ago, I saw it listed on the guide, so I decided to check it out. I have to admit I was busy, so I was just taking in tiny bits and pieces. At the time, I didn't think it was going to be a show I liked.

The next night (Halloween) they played several episodes on HBO back to back. I ended up watching these, and I am now a full-blown True Blood fan. I LOVE it!

The show description from the website says the following;

"Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out.

Local waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), however, knows how it feels to be an outcast. The description really sums it up. I am finding True Blood to be an intense, funny, and not to mention, wild ride. The cast is great and you just never know what's coming next. I love the fact that Sookie has hooked up with Bill, the vampire. Tonight's episode really threw me at the end, (Hint: the dog), and I love all the paranormal and supernatural twists and turns they are putting into the show.

My only problem now is waiting for the older ones to be rerun so I can see them!

If you love to read paranormal romances, you are going to love this show on HBO. Tune in on Sunday nights at 9 PM Eastern time.

When the thought crossed my mind to write this, I immediately decided against it.

This blog is geared towards adults singles, and to me this seemed more like a teen article. Until I remembered how clueless I am when it comes to realizing that someone likes me. I'm so blind to it, that a man almost has to hold a sign in front of my face for me to figure out if he likes me.

So this blog entry is geared towards any single woman that needs help figuring out if the guy likes her.

When you are single and dating, it's really important to catch the clues that he's interested. Otherwise, you might completely miss out on a great relationship. There are still some shy guys left out there that aren't bold enough to ask you out until you show interest in them as well. Yes, many times dating is a guessing game.

So here are some signs he's interested. He may do some of these or all of these;

1. Calls you for no reason.
2. Makes excuses to be around you.
3. You catch him looking at you a lot.
4. Eye contact - If he's shy, he may look away quickly when you look towards him. If he's not shy, he'll try to catch your eye and hold it.
5. He tries to get your attention. This may be done through joking, pranks, or anything that will get you to notice him.
6. His friends or your friends tell you he's interested - This is a great way to know. Sometimes your friends will notice things you don't. If his friends tell you that he's interested, he's probably told them that.

Generally, as we get older, people get bolder. Hopefully, this will be the case and you won't have to guess if he likes you or not. He will just ask you out.

If you're a guy reading this, do the ladies a favor by not making them guess. Be brave and ask them out! Whether they are interested or not, at least you will know. It's better to find out in the beginning. If the lady you are interested in doesn't like you back, you can at least move on and find someone that is.

Relationships have to start somewhere, and they usually start when one person lets the other person know they are interested. If you think he likes you, don't be afraid to ask him out. It could be the start of something wonderful.

Old Navy - We want our PLUS SIZES BACK!

Ah, the good old days. When you could just hop in your car and drive to the nearest Old Navy to find some great deals on plus size clothing.

Whenever I wanted a new pair of jeans, Old Navy was the only place I'd go. I love their low rise (or waist) jeans. I could usually find what I was looking for in the clearance section.

A few years ago, they changed and stopped offering plus sizes in the store. I've never heard the reason why. It's very disappointing. Has anyone seen their prices for their plus-sized clothing on the website? As a result, I haven't purchased jeans from them since.

Whoever made that decision made a big mistake. I'm sure their plus-size clothing sales must have really dropped. There are a lot of people that don't order from the internet.

Old Navy needs to bring sexy back by offering their plus sizes in the stores again. I doubt that they ever will though.

Goody's carries Lei Jeans which are now my favorite. You can go into the store and usually find some good deals there. Lei Jeans are low rise, and the quality is as good as Old Navy's. They are in the plus-size junior's department.

Low rise jeans are very flattering, but not if you have a huge panty line showing. I've actually seen people wearing short length shirts with low rise jeans and regular waist panties. Make sure to wear underwear meant for use with low rise jeans.

You also don't want to buy jeans that come down to low. Make sure they fit. See the following;

What is going on with my computer?

Don't you just hate that gut-wrenching feeling you get when something is wrong with your computer?

For the last several days, I've had a blue box that pops up every twenty minutes or so. At the top it says, "Windows Security Alert." Underneath that it says, " To help protect your computer, Windows Firewall has detected activity of harmful software."

It then asks if I want to block this software from sending data over the internet. The odd thing about it is I'm not able to select the "keep blocking" button or the "unblock" button. The only one that can be selected is the "enable protection" button.

When I click on this, it takes me to an advertisement. So I know this isn't a legitimate warning message.

I've got a really great program on my computer called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. This freeware program actually saved my computer a few months ago. Somehow, I had gotten a spyware program from surfing the net. Malwarebytes' was the only program that was able to remove it. But even it can't remove this blue box thing.

So far, I've been closing the blue box out by clicking on the X on the upper right hand corner. If anyone has any solutions about getting rid of it, I'd love to hear it!

Dating when you do have extra weight

Back in my late teens, I knew a very pretty girl that was a little overweight. She was 5'10 and about 220. To hear her talk, you'd think she was twice that size though.

She said many times that men told her if she lost 40 pounds, they would date her. Had it been me, I would have told them to hit the road. But for her, it was devastating. Her whole life revolved on those extra pounds. It really hurt her.

I can say, I've never been told that I'm to fat to date (at least to my face). Maybe potential boyfriends I had in the past picked up on the fact that I wouldn't be around someone that felt that way.

I lost touch with that gal years ago, but for her sake I hope she ended up realizing her worth isn't based on how much she weighed. She was a really nice girl that had so much going for her.

That happens alot. You can turn on the tv and see a wife crying because her husband told her if she didn't lose the extra weight he was leaving. I say LET HIM LEAVE! At the end of the day it doesn't matter how much someone weighs or even how great they look. Personality and attitude is what's important in a relationship and marriage.

I wouldn't want someone that wanted me based on how many pounds I was. I want to be liked, respected, and loved for the person I am inside. To be wanted or desired based on my weight is insulting. To not be wanted based on my weight would be insulting as well.

Everyday I see people settling for relationships and men they really don't want. Many times because they think they won't be able to get someone else. The truth is, in your lifetime, you will probably find a few someone elses.

If you interact with someone you find attractive, don't be afraid to let them know you feel that way. In the same breath, if someone else finds you attractive don't be embarrassed or think they are just saying that. Compliments are meant to be accepted and most people won't give one if they don't truly feel that way.

Society has done just about as much as it can to make overweight people feel undesirable and unattractive. This is damaging in many ways, but most especially relationships. For a woman, it makes her feel that she is truly ugly. When she feels that way, the last thing she wants to do is get naked in front of someone else.

There is someone out there for everyone. We just have to be smart enough to realize it, and not let a negative self-image ruin it. Sure, we will be rejected as well. That isn't size specific. Just get out there and keep trying. Don't let nobody get you down.

Fattest Jobs

Today I checked my email and I had spam that actually interested me enough to not delete it. In the subject line it said, "The top 10 fattest jobs."

Curiosity won out, so I clicked on the link to see the list. Being that it is spam, there was a catch to see the whole list. I really didn't want to take their survey/quiz to get the rest of them. They did offer a sample though of the 5 fattest jobs for men.

According to the list, these are the 5 fattest jobs for men;
1. Public administration (38 percent obese).
2. Private household occupations (37.7 percent obese).
3. Motor vehicle operators (35.9 percent obese).
4. Computer equipment operators (33.1 percent obese).
5. Health assessment/treating occupations (31.2 percent obese).

Sometimes, I really wonder why some of these articles are even put up. Really, what's the point? Are they trying to encourage people to not go into these lines of work? I find it a little confusing.

In my opinion, a person's weight shouldn't come into the job. What anyone should be concerned about is whether or not the person is actually doing their job. Their job performance is what's important.

As long as attention is always drawn to what the scale says, there will always be weight discrimination. No matter what size we are, we should be liked or disliked based on our actions and who we are on the inside. Hopefully, there will be the day where lists like this become obsolete.

Note: #3 also said on the website, "Those who work from home may be saving money on gas, but the truth is these jobs often involve little more than sitting in front of a computer screen. It probably doesn't help much that the fridge is no more than a few rooms away." I don't understand why they think that just because someone works from home, they have time to eat constantly. Just in case someone is looking for a snack though, let me recommend the following. Mrs. Beasley's has some wonderful treats!

The Art and Life of Peter Paul Rubens

Venus and Adonis

Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 – May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth-century Flemish Baroque painter. His painting are thought provoking and really deep. Most of his paintings depict plump women.

In the above painting, Venus, assisted by Cupid, vainly tries to restrain her mortal lover Adonis from setting off for the hunt, knowing that if he does so, he will be killed by a wild boar.

Religion figured prominently in much of Peter Paul Rubens work. He was raised Catholic, and during his time, there was a lot of religious turmoil. Peter Paul Rubens later became one of the leading voices of the Catholic Counter-Reformation style of painting.

Peter Paul was married twice. In 1609 he married Isabella Brant. Not much is told about her appearance. Four years after her death, he married again to Hélène Fourment. At the time, Hélène Fourment was 16 and Peter Paul was 53. She inspired the voluptuous figures in many of his paintings from the 1630's.

The above is a painting of Hélène Fourment. It's amazing to see a natural work of art, complete with cellulite! It makes you wonder what our world would be like today if models and actresses presented the natural bodies that God gave them. I doubt we'd have to worry about bullemia and anorexia, that's for sure.

Rubens died from gout on 5-30-1640. He had total of 8 children. I found it very interesting that the youngest was born 8 months after his death. I suppose he was going strong until the end. One thing is for sure. He was an amazing artist!

All US Adults overweight in 40 years? I doubt it!

Did anyone else see the article estimating that all US adults will be overweight in 40 years?

According the the article, the idea of this is "worrying" and maybe alarming.

I have to wonder why everyone is so concerned about another person's weight. As American's we already have so many problems. We have to worry about our environment, crime, and our economy. Why aren't we focusing on that?

The article also mentions that two-thirds of the population is already overweight. I don't see where they are getting these numbers. If that were true, why is there so much size discrimination?

The way it stands though, I don't see how 100% of the population will ever be overweight. There are to many people out there that base their lives on what the scale says. Not to mention, there are people out there that are just naturally slender.

It just amazes me to read stuff like this though. I can't believe that admist all the horrible things that go on in our country and world, the news is concerned about American's weight in 40 years.

With the prices of everything from food to rent to gas being as high as it is now, who's to say that anyone will be able to afford fatty food in 40 years. Many Americans might have to go back to the old ways to survive. In 40 years, we might not be able to afford the newspaper. Really, journalists need to consider that.

Remembering Bernie Mac

Bernie Mac has passed away, and I think it is so sad. He was only 50 years old. He died from complications of pneumonia.

So I'd like to take a few minutes and remember him for the wonderful actor he was. Bernie was so funny.

One of my favorite movies that he starred in was Guess Who. So I'm going to share some of his quotes from this movies.

Guess Who (2005)
In Guess Who, Bernie played Percy. The plot was basically about a sarcastic father (Mac) who isn't to happy about his daughter wanting to marry a white boy (Kutcher).

Two of his funniest quotes in this movie were;

"I don't want to hear about you sleeping with my daughter - you're sleeping with me now."

Theresa: I was just showing Simon around the house.
Simon Green: You have a very nice house, Mrs. Jones.

Bernie's passing is a really tragic event, and my heart goes out to his family. He will be missed.

Acheron has been released!

Finally, Acheron has been released! It's the book about the leader of the Dark-Hunters (book 12) by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I've been waiting for this a long time, as I am a big fan of Sherrilyn's books.

I don't know if it has hit Wal-Mart of not, but I know on Ebay it's going fast. Last time I looked, the book was selling for $10.00 plus. This is a little luxury that I might have to wait on for awhile.

I got hooked on Sherrilyn Kenyon after reading her "Night Play" book. Finally, a book that has a bbw as the leading lady! It was a great read, and I've loved her books ever since.

A $5.00 shirt to kill for?

I just finished a news article here that absolutely stunned me. I can't believe that someone would be murdered over a shirt like the one above.

Sunday Morning, in Atlanta, GA, a convenience store clerk was shot and killed over a size 5X white t-shirt. The cost of the shirt? $5.00.

Elliott Glass, an eyewitness, said that when the clerk turned to give him the shirt, the man started shooting.

The victim's name was Obi E. Onyemaechi. Glass stated that when he called 911, he was put on hold. He was able to flag down a policeman, but it was already to late.

The police haven't apprehended the suspect, but I sure hope they do. It was a horrible and tragic event that should never have happened.

Food to Die For?

There is nothing I love better then summer tomatoes. They taste so much better then the winter ones. Plus, they go great with all kinds of foods.

It's really a shame that consumers have to worry about getting salmonella. For the prices we have to pay for groceries, we ought to be assured that the fresh produce is safe. The truth is, it's not.

This isn't the first time store bought food has carried a serious defect. It's happened several times over the last few years.

According to this news article here, "There have been 943 reported cases nationwide, with at least 130 hospitalizations since mid-April after the first salmonella illnesses appeared, the Food and Drug Administration said Saturday. That compares with a total of 922 people about two days ago and 869 reported earlier in the past week."

Now, they are saying that it's not just limited to tomatoes. They are looking at jalapeno peppers as a possible carrier of salmonella.

We really need to get back to the basics. It used to be that families had their own yearly vegetable gardens. By growing your own vegetables, at least you know they are safe to eat.

Next year, I plan on starting a vegetable garden. In the meantime though, I think I am going to look into purchasing fresh vegetables from the Amish. They set up a little buggy down the road every now and then. At least I know these aren't going to be contaminated.

One of the great things about summer is the variety of fresh vegetables. You can still bring them to your dinner table by finding other sources and places to get them.

On the flip side of the coin..... Skinny and diet jokes!

Being weighed isn't just for the doctor's office anymore

There has been a lot of talk lately about airlines initiating a weight program. And I'm not talking about just your bags.

American Airlines is wanting to include a person's physical body as part of the weight limit.

I don't fly at all myself, but I know that many plus-sized people will purchase two seats. So what's the problem? Are plus-sized people going to be expected to purchase 2 seats plus pay extra based on how much they weigh?

Fuel prices are outrageous. I will agree with that. Every American consumer is having to pay the price for this. It's not just the airlines. How many of us would be tacky enough to pull out a scale to weigh someone before deciding if we will let them in the car?

The airlines are talking about the financial loss they are experiencing. They aren't the only ones. Many, many Americans are feeling the pinch. We are feeling it in our daily lives when we pull up to the pump and pay $4.00 a gallon for gas. What about our financial loss?

The last time I checked people are people, no matter what their weight size is. We are not packages being shipped. What next? Will they try to stamp us as well, like the post office does the packages they accept?

As Americans, we have all come to depend upon our cars and gas. Many have come to depend on flying as well. We are having to pay a mighty big price for it.

I have to wonder if fuel prices dropped tommorow, would our lives return back to normal? Would airlines suddenly get their prices and services back like they used to be before the big increase? Would they still try to weigh overweight people and charge them based on their weight?

Probably so.

I have to say, if I did have to fly, I would not be put through this type of situation. If airlines adopt this policy, I would simply drive. I've always wanted to take an Amtrak train. Maybe I would try that out. I simply would not do business with a company that treats human beings like this.
